An entrepreneur is someone with new ideas and thoughts that would change his surrounding community. He is usually the innovator and the creative person in any group. The thing is, an entrepreneur believes in his idea and works constantly to bring it to life, he is not afraid of failure or other people’s judgment. Entrepreneurs for sure have an impact on their country’s economy, they promote new services and products which help the people to live their lives much more easily and decrease the unemployment as well. The best part about entrepreneurship is the drastic changes they make socially, they break the boundaries and the tradition and open up to do new and better things. This impact definitely raises awareness about various topics that maybe ordinary people will not talk about. Many people wake up in morning to realize that they do not want to work for anyone but themselves. They either get a calling to commercialize their interest, saw an amazing franchise opportunity or even leave their existing job to start a business because they think they have acquired sufficient skills, knowledge and contacts in their current job to think they can run it as a business themselves.
Let’s dissect this entrepreneur dream. What’s so exciting about entrepreneurship that makes Singaporeans want to forgo stability?
The Love to be In Control
An entrepreneur will have absolute control over their work space, work schedules or even your dress codes and to enjoy the feeling of having control over your own destiny as you report to nobody, you call the shots and be responsible for all decisions and actions.
Flexibility to Prioritize our Life
Having the flexibility empowers us to do what we deem as important at that point of time. We can make time for hobbies or fitness. Like hitting the gym, attending yoga or pilates class, enjoy a game of golf when you want to. We can have the time to watch our kids grow up instead of leaving them with a helper, after school care or grandparents. We have the luxury of impromptu travel plans as we are not bounded by a 5 day work week.
Pride and Recognition
The feeling of being able to say “this is my company” to friends and family is great. And the feeling will be even better if your company is validated by media.
Stigma
Humans always want to have more; more food, more money, even more power. And it is a stigma that all business owners are successful and always have more. They are rich and have great spending power and most people craves to be like these business owners. In conclusion, people don’t wake up one morning to decide to become an entrepreneur, they come to realize over time that they want to be in control, they want flexibility, they want lifestyle and they want to be recognized. That’s why they chose the entrepreneur path.
